FlightPod Sensor Pod

May 2025 -- Present · Philadelphia, PA

Lead Engineer -- FlightPod Sensor Pod & Drone Detection

Designed and fabricated FlightPod, a custom ESP32-S3 sensor pod enclosure in SolidWorks, integrating MPU-6050 IMU, HGLRC M100 GPS module, and OV2640 camera into a unified onboard sensing platform for autonomous drone flight. Architected a real-time drone detection pipeline running YOLOv11n at 40-60 FPS on RTX 4070 GPU, processing MJPEG video streamed over WiFi from the ESP32-S3 onboard camera at 640x480 resolution. Implemented wireless IPC bridge using ZeroMQ PUB/SUB with sub-100ms end-to-end latency between camera capture and MATLAB flight controller at 50 Hz. Led a team of 3 engineers through hardware bring-up and integration.

Electrical Lead - Owl Strike

Designed an end-to-end embedded data acquisition and control system integrating MATLAB with Arduino via serial communication, enabling real-time drone signal capture and playback. Architected hardware signal recreation pipeline using TCA9548A I2C multiplexer and MCP4018 digital potentiometer to replay signals acquired through Arduino Uno ADC. Reconstructed drone flight trajectories from time-stamped sensor data, achieving positional tracking error of 7.21% between recorded and replayed movement profiles.

Digital Piano on FPGA

Designed a hardware digital piano on a MAX 10 FPGA (DE10-Lite board) using SystemVerilog. The system uses a 3-state finite state machine (IDLE, PLAY, STOP) to control playback, with 8 selectable notes across multiple octaves via physical switches and a frequency lookup table driving a clock-divider-based square wave tone generator. Dual 7-segment displays show current note and octave in real time. All inputs synchronized into the 50 MHz clock domain with debouncing.

Junior Planning Engineer -- 7-Bus Grid Expansion Project

Designed and validated a grid upgrade for a 7-bus, 130 kV system to accommodate a 510 MW load increase from a new data center. The initial grid suffered severe undervoltages (bus voltages as low as 0.53 p.u.) and thermal overloads (lines at 173% of MVA rating). Using PowerWorld Simulator, I selected line re-conductoring, capacitor banks, and a 40 MW solar farm to bring all bus voltages above 0.95 p.u. and all line loadings below 100% -- using only 75 of 100 available credits. Bonus: Critical Clearing Time analysis in MATLAB/Simulink.

CATS AI Automation -- Consider Assistive Technology Solutions

Built a multi-phase conversational AI workflow in n8n with a rules-based assistive technology matching engine covering 40+ devices across 10 categories. The system interviews users through a structured questionnaire, analyzes their needs, and recommends appropriate assistive technology devices from an inventory database. Integrated webhook endpoints for real-time data processing and dynamic workflow branching based on user responses.

Drone-Mounted Air Quality Sensor System

Developed a drone-mounted air quality monitoring payload as part of an ASME Philadelphia Section-funded engineering design project. The Flight Pod integrates a Nicla Sense ENV sensor (O3, NO2, temperature, humidity, TVOC, eCO2) and GPS on an ESP32-S3 microcontroller, logging synchronized 14-column CSV data to microSD at 3-second intervals. Post-flight, a custom MATLAB pipeline generates georeferenced AQI heatmaps overlaid on OpenStreetMap tiles using scattered interpolation and EPA AQI breakpoints. Collected 200+ data points across two test flights at 30-90m altitude. Mentored Northeast High School students in Arduino/C++ engineering fundamentals as community outreach.

Musical Light Show Schematic

Spring 2026 · Philadelphia, PA

Musical Light Show -- Audio-Responsive LED Display

Built a fully analog 4-stage musical light show circuit that separates an audio signal into high and low frequency bands, then drives two LEDs whose brightness tracks instantaneous amplitude per band. The design uses an inverting summing amplifier for stereo mixing, passive RC filters with a 350 Hz crossover, diode-capacitor peak detectors with 20 ms hold time, and BJT-based LED drivers switching at up to 30 mA. Full end-to-end validation in Multisim with AC sweeps and hardware demonstration.

The Arcade -- Multiplayer Gaming Platform

5-person team project building a full-stack multiplayer arcade platform with a Python/Pygame client, Python platform server (login, profiles, leaderboards, chat, matchmaking), and C++ game server. All data structures -- hash tables, BSTs, stacks, circular buffers, sparse matrices -- implemented from scratch and benchmarked against 10,000+ synthetic players and 100,000+ game sessions. I built the chat moderation pipeline (profanity filter + rate limiter), game recommendation engine using sparse matrices, history tracking, and a top-down adventure game with NPC pathfinding and dialog trees.

Temperature Detector with LED Indicator

Designed and built an analog temperature-detection circuit that keeps a red LED dark at room temperature and progressively brightens it as ambient temperature rises, capping at 20 mA. The design uses an NTC thermistor in a precision voltage-divider/buffer stage feeding a subtracting op-amp (OP97), whose output drives an IRF510 MOSFET controlling LED current through its linear ohmic region. Verified analytically, in Multisim simulation, and on breadboard hardware with 97.5% current throughput (2.5% error).

Wind Turbine Economic Analysis

Developed a MATLAB analysis tool evaluating wind turbine economic viability across 6 U.S. cities at 3 hub heights (100m, 150m, 200m) with 75m blade radius. The program ingests NREL TMY-2022 hourly wind data, adjusts for height using the logarithmic wind profile law, computes hourly power output accounting for cut-in/cut-out speeds and a 53% power coefficient, and produces a comparative bar plot plus viability assessment for all 18 city-height combinations across 5 graded decision criteria.
